Where do I go to get INFO?
There are a variety of resources available for information.

The Planner
The planner is the most important organizational tool for surviving the 6th grade.

  • Write in your planner everyday for every class.
  • Write exactly what is written on the agenda board in class.
  • DO NOT ABBREVIATE!
  • Planner checks will occur in every class each week.

Access

While a personal computer in the home is not required, daily access to a computer with internet is strongly recommended.  If you do not have a computer in your home here are some suggestions for access. 

Consider these options for computer access issues should they arise this school year.

  • Mr. Rhodes will have his lab open before and after school on scheduled days. More information to come on schedule.
  • The public library
  • Identifying a friend or family member that will allow your child to work on their computer.

School Spirit

    • Wednesdays are school pride days.  We encourage you to wear blue and gold or any school sponsored shirt.
    • Spirit days are theme days that happen about once every two weeks.  The themes will be announced on the calendar.

     

     

    Team Conferences

    • We encourage you to attempt to resolve issues and concerns with a teacher via email or phone call.
    • Please contact Ms. Sauberan to schedule a formal team conference if the issue can not be resolved through email or a phone call. 
    • Priority will be given to major academic and/or behavioral concerns.




    Teachers’ Websites

      • Each teacher maintains a website to support information communicated in the planner and in class. 
      • Please refer to it as questions arise. 
      • The planner overrides any information on the website. 

       

       

       

      Infinite Campus

        • Infinite Campus will be the online tool for all student related information.  Additional information to come. 

         

        Learning Community

        • Students and parents are encouraged to develop a network with other families.
        • Exchange phone numbers/email addresses with at least three other 6th grade Academy families.
        • Should you have questions about an assignment, school function or need a study buddy, use these contacts as a resource.

        Academic Integrity

        Howard Bishop's academy students are held to the highest standards of academic integrity. We take great care to ensure that student work is original and representative of their ability. We take a proactive stance by educating students about copyright laws, plagiarism, intellectual property and works cited.

        Help us make sure your child’s work products are plagiarism free and contain documentation of outside sources where applicable. 

        Any work that violates academic integrity guidelines will not be counted for credit with no opportunity for a re-do.  

         

        Literacy

          • Students should have a novel to read at ALL times.
          • This is considered a school supply like any other. 

           

          Red Homework Folder

          • Each student is required to have a RED two pocket homework folder.

           

           

          Following Directions

          • When students enter each of the five academic classes, directions will be written on the board.
          • Students are expected to read the board and follow all the directions.

           

          Proper Heading

          • All assignments should have a proper heading.
          • Points will be taken off of the overall grade if the proper heading is not used.
